Macro Trend Alert: Croc-embossed leather

Images via Leather pinterest board

Fashion has been obsessed with leather for the past two seasons, so it was only fitting that the bovine fabric evolve into it’s third season with a new look.

This time it’s been reinvented with crocodile with everyone from Emilio Pucci to Marc Jacobs and the kind of cool Alexander Wang. In fact expect leather to be seen with a myriad of skin effects from lizard to snake on all the usual suspects from bags to dresses.

What do you think of the new-look leather?

Fashion Torque celebrates 2nd Birthday

Image via Chic Traveller. Written by Phoebes Garland

There’s something about Melbourne and its people that are quite unique and special to me. When the ever charming, highly astute and celebrity stylist to the stars, Philip Boon mentioned Australia’s only live talk show – Fashion Torque, was having an invite-only celebration for it’s 2nd birthday, flying down was a no brainer.

On a warm evening on the rooftop of The Carlton in Melbourne’s CBD, guests gathered to join the wonderful iconic fashion designer and talk show host, Jenny Bannister and fellow co-host celebrity stylist, Philip Boon. Also on the panel, the gorgeous, Sarah Gale, esteemed fashion editor, Janice Breen Burns and milliner to the stars, Richard Nylon.

Diversity is something that Fashion Torque does so well with their topics, which offers an incredible insight to new comers in the fashion industry. What really stands out is that Boon also ensures that the panelists have a sense of strong credibility behind them. It offers the fashion industry a reason to come together, listen, learn, talk, have a drink and make new friends, and really who doesn’t love that!

Some of the other notable guests invited were the delightful – Dean Hewitt of Madam Virtue & Co & Mr Hewitt, man about town – Shiva Singam, milliner – Kerrie Stanley, the ultimate host of the party – Joshua Koko, vintage expert – Nicole Jenkins, Take 2 Markets – Rina Chia, TFIA’s – Jane Hayes, Made in Melbourne’s – Louise Lorkin, regular devoted attendees – Christopher Hamblin and wife Marion Liese, ex – Project Runway winner Anthony Capon, with Sydney’s social expert, Chic Traveller flying in for the event as well to capture the night.

To full the view pictures of the event see Chic Traveller’s coverage on Facebook HERE.

Fashion Torque is free to attend at Hasti Bala at The Carlton, 193 Bourke Street Melbourne on the last Wednesday of each month. The next event will be at the end of February 2013. To find out more go to Fashion Torque page on Facebook.
