Mannequin Minute with Chic model Jemma Baines…

via katherineisawesome.com

Even at the tender age of 2, South Australian beauty Jemma Baines knew she wanted to be a model.
Now she is finally living her dream after being named the winner of the 2010 Girlfriend Rimmel Model Search, signing up with Chic Management in Sydney and their sister agency, Next models in NYC.
Since her discovery, the 16-year-old has impressed fashion figureheads with her classic beauty, porcelain snow-white skin and soft pink pout.
Baines followed in the fashionable footsteps of former finalists and Vogue cover girls Alyssa Sutherland, Catherine McNeil, Pania Rose, Samantha Harris, Abbey-Lee Kershaw and Sarah Stephens with her debut at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week last month.
The statuesque stunner, a snitch off 5″10′, strut for all the top Australian designer names including Dion Lee, Josh Goot, Zimmermann and Christopher Esber.
In our second segment of Mannequin Minute we managed to grab the in-demand model-of-the-moment for a quick chat on her new `fresh face’ tag, love of fruit mince pies and interest in seismology.

You are tipped as the next fresh face, what does this mean to you?
Being named the next fresh face is overwhelming, hopefully I receive more work and exposure to achieve my goal of becoming a successful model.

When did you know modelling was what you wanted to do?
I have always wanted to be a model since I could read. I remember even when I was in yr 2 I remember reading Vogue Australia instead of Aussie Bite books in the library.
It’s always something that I have been very interested in.

Where were you when you were discovered? and what were you doing? Were you shocked?
I was discovered at the 2010 Girlfriend Rimmel Model search last year. I was in absolute disarray about being picked up by Australia’s best model agency, Chic Management, and then making it to the next stage of the model search was unexplainable. Those two moments are definitely the best things that have happened to me thus far.
