Mix and match simple separates for timeless style

Kirei in Japanese means pretty and beautiful. That’s exactly how the clothing brand by the same name wants to make you feel.

And while at first that might seem like a simple message, well, that’s because it is. Because this is a real reflection of our daily desires. Who doesn’t love to feel beautiful?

Inspired by everyday females, Kirei is a new label that attempts to capture this state of mind to make the daily routine of getting dressed as effortless as possible.

The range features key pieces from clothing through to accessories, footwear and make-up, designed for the free-spirited woman.

Perfect for mix and matching, the simple looks work together to create many outfits with a timeless appeal.

Spring Summer ’13 features a range of modern basics from the classic Breton tee to the black maxi skirt, must-haves for every woman’s wardrobe.

All Kirei garments are designed with quality fit, finish and attention to detail in mind.

To view the range, visit Kirei on stand 2032 during Fashion Exposed from 10-12 March at the Sydney Exhibition Centre.

Universal Group will also be showing a new menswear label called Pitt. These are two must-see labels.

A wild splash of prints

During the hippie era of 1974, Nava and Felix Kingston took a backpacker holiday through India and fell in love with the beautiful printed, patchwork cotton and cheesecloth Indian dresses.

These dresses became the inspiration behind their own label, Black Plum. Fast track to modern day and their label is still going strong with their daughter, Natalie joining the creative team.

Their inspiration has also moved on from India with fabrics and ideas being sourced from France to Italy, as well as European fashion catwalks and the creative minds of their designers.

The Black Plum design team create all their own prints and embroideries on top of the gorgeous textures of fabrics and trims they source elsewhere. They create collections to work as themes for styled outfits specifically with the Black Plum customer in mind.

And the name? Well it is of course from the delicious fruit. The designers were inspired after eating a Black Plum during the summertime.

Black Plum will showcase their new collection at Fashion Exposed from 10-12 March at the Sydney Exhibition Centre, after receiving positive feedback from their first appearance at Fashion Exposed Melbourne last year.

Expect a wild splash of prints and fantastic new designs on stand 2828.

The Black Plum and Ice Express brands have been growing from strength to strength even in these tough times. These affordable ranges provide cutting edge and commercial, contemporary styling using top quality natural fabrics.

There is so much variety within the ranges as well as sizes available from 10 to XXL.

Don’t miss them!

Racewear in style…

And we’re off… the Spring racing season will be in full swing for tomorrow’s Derby Day with elegant looking ladies lined up trackside in their hats and fascinators.

In a recent interview with Kate Waterhouse, Nerida Winter revealed the key looks for millinery this Spring is sculptural headpieces, similar to what’s been happening in fashion, lace and netting are also popular with straw hats.

The big no no for Spring is felt, as this is for the autumn/winter racing according to Ms Winter. For more advice, watch the interview at smh.com.au

We are particularly in love with the beautiful butterfly head piece below courtesy of Giambattista Couture.

When it comes to race day fashion, always remember appropriate hemlines ladies. And given the temperamental weather in Melbourne lately, it might be wise to invest in a cropped bolero or fur stole. Those winds are nasty, especially at the track.

Or go for a vintage look that’s timeless and forever classic. Isn’t she just stunning…

But in more important news, who will you be backing on the day? All tips are welcome, comment below or hit us up on Facebook.
