DIY Chanel Clutch aka the brown paper bag reinvented
While we all love a good dose of retail therapy, sometimes your bank balance just can’t accommodate everything on your wishlist.
It is also a much greener look at the world if you re-use your existing wardrobe to transform old pieces into something new, modern, and relevant to current season styles.
Plus, when it really comes down to it, who isn’t privy to a little homegrown crafty magic.
It’s a great hobby to pick up during winter. While you’re stuck indoors around the comfort of the heater, get out the sewing kit, glue gun and scissors for some good ol’ DIY designer fun.
Thankfully for you, FE Blog have done most of the legwork for you and stumbled on several fantastic websites who also love to be thrifty with their threads.
DIY Woven Chain Bracelet: It’s described on the site as the ultimate `grown-up’ friendship bracelet and we couldn’t agree more. It uses up old chains you have lying around (we all have plenty of those) and the only cash you need to spend is on some fancy embroidery threads in the colour of your choice. We still haven’t tried this out yet but it looks super easy. Hit us up in the comment box if you attempt this one and let me know if it is or not.
Head here for the complete step-by-step guide. The site also features other DIY projects including how to make a transparent clutch, mmmm, so get clicking here too.
Dip Dye Jeans: The ultimate summer cut-off denim short with a difference. Now you can tear up those old `mum’ jeans or last season’s cult denim look that is so not-right-now and transform them into the most covetable pair of designer daks. This DIY is courtesy of Who What Wear, one of my all-time favourite fashion blogs, who enlisted the help of Erica Domesek from P.S I made this (another awesome DIY site) in showing us how to incorporate the latest lust for everything white trend into our daily `drobes.

DIY Manicure: Yes we know, this isn’t fashion per say, but a good manicure is most certainly key to perfecting any look. It reflects a polished woman, even when you’re not feeling your best.
This nail tutorial shows you how to perfect the two-toned look using a beautiful gold and metallic green via Cherry Blossom Girl.
And finally…
Givenchy Spiked Headband: Worn by the likes of style icon Vanessa Traina and our own racing style queen, Kate Waterhouse, is reason enough for this edgy accessory to become an instant cult hit among fashionistas worldwide.

It went viral online with the blogosphere tracing its every step on every stylista’s fashionable head, so of course a DIY version was bound to pop up.
Enter Cut Out and Keep, a fabulous and fun site that helps you to recreate lustworthy pieces on a budget, because even if we did have the money to burn on this baby, it’s more than likely you won’t even find one. Most of the time these high end items are limited to just a few pieces, or are loaned out to celebs and magazine editors to don during fashion week in the hope they create hype during the paparazzi blitz outside. Besides, this is a look you won’t be wearing next year.

Please hit me up in the comments section or post your finished projects via the Fashion Exposed Facebook page. I’d love to hear all about it.
