Your hair is the most important accessory.
A new outfit, no matter how immaculately styled, can easily be demoted from `wow’ to `woah?’ if your hair is behaving badly.
It’s not that the outfit itself won’t look great, you just won’t feel great.
But achieving beautiful salon-style hair really isn’t out of your reach. There are a few simple styles you can splice into your morning routine that won’t make you late for work and will have you arriving to the office in style.
To help us, we asked the Artistic Manager at Made in Paris Hair Salon and our creative director for the hair looks at the upcoming Fashion Exposed Salon Shows, Renee Sallustio for further insight into the latest colours, cuts and styles.
This is what she came up with; heed the advice ladies!
“Does your hair make you feel beautiful? Do you look in the mirror and think to yourself “Wow, I look great. My hairdresser is the best!” If not, then maybe you need a new look – or a new hairdresser!!!
So now’s the time to go and get it!
2011 marks the beginning of a new decade – there is no stopping you now. With the help of Goldwell/KMS, myself and the team at Made in Paris are always keeping up with the latest trends in hairstyles, cuts, colours, updos and fashion.
Colours for now are beautiful warm browns, from caramel to rich dark chocolate, fiery hot reds and intense coppers. No more chalky blondes! Instead we want to see a softer, healthy, shiny blonde. After all, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want beautiful shiny hair!

If you’re heading out on a night with the girls, a school formal or even a first date, why not try an updo? Plaits and braids are all the go, as well as hair sleeked back into a high ponytail or a low bun. Stay away from tight curls and go more for a tousled beach look, sexy bed hair!

Blake Lively lets her hair down with a few bohemian plaits and a sleek messy style
When it comes to your cut, don’t follow only what’s in fashion but also what best suits your face shape. For instance, if you have a small face, don’t shrink it even more with a thick blunt fringe. Go for a softer sweeping side fringe instead.
Rachel Bilson is known for her beautiful locks and honey brown colour, but these bangs drown her
Nicole Richie went from a middle part to a softer side swept fringe, complementing her features and eyes
There are so many great styles out there at the moment… I love the fact that less guests are choosing to walk out of the salon with long, straight, boring hair. There are some amazing short looks being worn, ranging from short pixie cuts to bobs with big bangs. For guests who are after a new look but still want to keep their length, I recommend full bouncy layers with soft shape around their face. Limp, long, dry hair will only drag your look down.
Michelle Williams doesn’t let her hair drag her down, she looks edgy and elegant with this pixie crop
Alexa Chung’s shaggy bob cut is probably one of the most emulated styles of the year
So it’s time to stop dodging your mirror and go get a fab new look, whether it be a new colour, cut, updo or just a clear gloss for a beautiful healthy shine!”
Made in Paris Hair Salon and KMS California hair products will join forces to create the cutting edge looks on the Salon Shows runway for the upcoming Fashion Exposed trade show from 28-30 August in the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
