Thierry Mugler SS 2013 range to launch at Fashion Exposed

Thierry Mugler, the Designer, Photographer, Perfumer is overall a creative genius in the world of fashion and beauty. His early career began in the extravagant and opulent world of theatre and the arts. It was his drive to become a star in this magical world that influenced the 5 point asymmetrical star which now comes to represent the Thierry Mugler brand we know so well today.

Luxury, decadence and over the top design elements characterize his accessory collections, once again inspired by the bright lights of the stage and close clients Lady Gaga and Beyonce. The Spring Summer 13 collection has real star appeal! Sparkles, studs, bold colours, geometric designs and strong hardware features create a collection that is fun, striking and exceptionally directional.

The 3 Acts of Life

Steering clear of the usually`fickle’ nature of the fashion industry, Lotus Mendes jewellery designer, Victoria Cheatham approaches her design process with a clear vision to empower, inspire and individualise. Her designer collections often evoke a spiritual message and meaning, and her recent range is no different.

‘The 3 Acts of Life’ jewellery collection features a stone called ‘the mirror crystal’. Shaped into a triangle, it represents three virtues of life – faith, hope and charity. Once these acts combine they form the greatest act of all – love.

The triangular stone is incorporated into each ring, cuff and necklace and Victoria explains; “It’s about sending a message to my wearer, for them to think, feel and look empowered. My jewellery uses symbols to create a story.”

To preview this exciting collection, visit Lotus Mendes on Stand 1724 at the Bags & Accessories Fair co-located with Fashion Exposed from this Sunday August 26-28 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

Simple Fashion. Simple Interiors. Simple Lifestyle.

Photography: Warren Jopson

Introducing White Label NOBA – a label born from the love of “simple, beautiful design and a dream to show the world that beauty and individual style is for everyone”. The label started in 2010 when Tracey Watkins, an interior designer frustrated with the lack of beautiful clothing for larger women, designed her own wedding dress and never looked back.

Tracey runs the label with a small team. From humble beginnings WLN has grown into a two-year-old company with 80 stockists nationwide and a fantastic local following with the brand.

Here is a sneak peek of the range which includes womenswear, homewares and children’s clothing before they debut at Fashion Exposed this Sunday at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Read our interview with Tracey in this weeks’ edition of EXPOSED Online out Wednesday.

Cruising into RESORT 2013…

Celine

With such a long break between the summer and winter seasonal shows, the fash pack welcome RESORT with eager anticipation. So what exactly is this collection anyway?

After a little research (via highly trusted source Wikipedia), resort collections were originally meant for wealthy customers or “more seasoned jet-setters” going on cruises (e.g. North Americans) or vacationing in the warm Mediterranean area (e.g. Europeans) during the winter months. Cruise collections offer light spring or summer clothing when the weather at the points of sale actually calls for winter apparel.

From a consumer point of view, they are a valuable distraction for those of us who have already bought their favourite pieces currently in-season, but are anxiously anticipating next season and can’t wait that long. But in fashion trade terms or as a retailer, resort is targeted at customers who have “finished buying their fall wardrobes and are looking ahead to vacations”.

Alexander Wang

So now you have received an education in resort and cruise collections, let’s get onto the fun part and take a look at some of Fashion Exposed Blog’s favourites so far.
